Baby or No-Baby Crossroads – Where To From Here?

Baby or No-Baby crossroads

Have you reached a baby or no baby crossroads?

When growing up, I had always thought that I would be a mum one day. I was one of five children born to happily married parents. I expected that all the right circumstances would just come together at the right time for that to happen. However as my 40th birthday approached, I was nowhere near having all the pieces together.

I had married and divorced in my late 20s. And here I was at almost 40 with no partner or baby in sight. While most of the time I still had hope that it would happen, there were also other times I felt like such a failure.

There were many baby or no-baby crossroads where I had to decide: ”where to from here?” Do I want to continue down the path of trying to make it happen, or is it time to close the door?”

At each of these times, I had to work through the process, in order to make that decision. So, I know how it feels. There can be a lot of uncertainty and confusion. Therefore, it can be really confronting to ask uncomfortable questions, and to seek out the answers.

Three questions to ask at baby or no-baby crossroads

If you’re at a baby or no-baby crossroad now, take a moment now to ask yourself the following three questions:

  • What is stopping you from making a decision?
  • How important is it to make a decision at this time?
  • By NOT making a decision, what is it costing you?

Click here to get my free resource: “8 Essential Questions To Ask When Deciding To Have A Baby or Not.”

Opportunity knocks with each crossroad

Although it might be daunting, each baby or no-baby crossroad can be a fabulous opportunity to gain real clarity about what is truly important. The following quote by Mehmet Murat Ildan captures this sentiment:

“When you lose your path, you get an opportunity to discover a world you have never known! And better worlds are often found this way! Darkness and uncertainty hide presents in itself!”

Where To From Here?

There can be great freedom in making a decision- even if it’s just deciding on the next step. Making a decision frees you up to move forward. It allows you to put your time, energy and effort into focusing on outcomes that fulfil you. That, however, requires you to make the commitment to move from where you are now. So, where to from here for you?

If you are at a baby or no-baby crossroads and would help to work through the process of getting clear about your decision click here to book a time to chat with me about how one of my programs can help.

Remember, it’s your life – create it the way you want it.

Warm regards
Lisa

When Strength Becomes Weakness

When Weakness Becomes Strength Blog

“Sometimes you don’t realize your own strength until you come face to face
with your greatest weakness.” – Susan Gale

I love this quote about strength and weakness, and this image of a woman hanging on as she scales a rock race..

We all have some place we want to get to, a pinnacle we are trying to climb.  That may be a good, a dream or some important aspiration you have.  It can be hard work, and the struggle can sometimes make us want to quit.  ⁣

The Struggle Can Make Us Want To Quit

⁣At this moment we have a choice – we can keep doing the same thing, we can give up, or we can do something different.

This moment of weakness, or vulnerability can push you to a place where you have to dig deep in order to find the inner resources to move forward.  ⁣Thus your weaknesses move you towards your strengths.⁣

Choices

It took a long time to conceive my son.  Along the way there was plenty of struggles to navigate. There were many moments where I felt vulnerable and weak.  There were also numerous times where I had to consider my options.  Would i keep doing the same thing, do something different or quit and move on?

Each time I had to make a decision, I had to summons my inner resources to figure out what was right for me and how to move forward.  One of my biggest lessons was in learning to let go.

What pinnacle are you trying to climb? Where is the perceived weakness? What strength is your struggle pushing you towards?

With warm regards
Lisa

Running Away From A Problem Only Increases The Distance From The Solution

Quote Running Away From The Problem“Running away from a problem only increases the distance from the solution.”
– Anonymous

Just as the above quote says, running away from a problem is just a strategy for avoiding the problem.  And the problem with avoidance is, it doesn’t resolve the situation.  If it’s a big enough issue, it will present itself at some other time, or continue to pop up again and again.  It may be in the same shape or form, or it might be different.

Three common examples of things that people run away from are making decisions, confronting what they think and feel, and taking action to implement their decision.  All very normal  But all stand in the way of making progress.

Problems can eat away at you

Unresolved problems have thoughts and feelings attached to them.  They sit in your mind ad body, shaping your actions an outcome, whether they are conscious and unconscious.  They can eat away at you, undermining your confidence and resilience.   If the issues are big enough, then can seriously affect your health, relationships, finances and every other area of your life.

Getting closer to the solution

Rather than avoid the problem, the solution is of course to deal with it.  This requires a willingness to confront the problem. To be honest with yourself, to confront the issues and to take actions to move you forward.  It doesn’t mean that it will be comfortable or easy.  However it is necessary to get closer to the solution. Otherwise it will hold you back and you won’t be able to breakthrough.

Have you been running away from a problem?  Is there a decision or action that you’ve been avoiding which is causing you pain, discomfort or holding you back?  It could be around your career/business, having a child or not, or any other area of your life.  If this sounds like you then you must set a very clear intention that you actually want to resolve the problem.  You must commit to taking action and start implementing.  You also need to be flexible enough to keep adjusting.  Things may happen differently than you expect, and it’s likely you’ll have to try new things.

Just keep stepping forward.  Keep going until you’ve succeeded in your desired outcomes.

Warm regards

Lisa

Quote: Confusion Is A Word We Have Invented …

Today’s quote on confusion comes from American writer Henry Miller, (1891-1980).  According to Wikipedia, Miller was known for “breaking with existing literary forms and developing a new type of semi-autobiographical novel that blended character study, social criticism, philosophical reflection, stream of consciousness, explicit language, sex, surrealist free association, and mysticism.”.

Here are Miller’s wise words:

Confusion Quote

Quote:

“Confusion is a word we have invented for an order which is not yet understood.” – Henry Miller

Confusion – Action Point

Take a moment now to consider where you are experiencing confusion in your life.  It could be in relation to work or a personal issue.  It could be related to an important decision you need to make.  Or, it might relate to an important goal you are working towards.  Then, consider how it is holding you back with your goals.

Next, apply Henry Miller’s wise words to the situation.  Can you see that there is an order there.?  If not, then focus  your efforts on discovering the pathway to understanding where the order is.   Continue with your efforts until you have clarity.

If  you’re struggling with confusion, and want help to gain clarity, then consider contacting me to chat about how I can best help you.  Click here to book a chat.

Quote: The Greatest Obstacles to Inner Peace

Quote:

“As human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery
… we have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace.
The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions
such as anger, attachment, fear and suspicion,
while love and compassion and a sense of universal responsibility
are the sources of peace and happiness.”
—Dalai Lama
