“When Are You Going To Have A Baby?”

When are you going to have a baby

The question,”when are you going to have a baby?” can be really uncomfortable or irritating for many women.  Yet this it’s a question that a woman will be asked many times over her life.

Common Question Times

This question is particularly common when a woman:

  • Starts a new relationship,
  • Becomes engaged,
  • Gets married,
  • Has a child

And … particularly when a woman hits her 30s and 40s and doesn’t have a child.

It’s a question that often causes a lot of women discomfort and irritation.  I know it did at times for me over the years.  And whether I saw it as irritating, uncomfortable or neutral depended on where I was sitting in my answer to the baby or no baby question.

3 Common Reasons Why It’s Uncomfortable or Irritating

For some women its because they:

  • Don’t want them.  They get sick of people asking, questioning their choice or inferring that they are less of a woman for not wanting them.
  • Do want one.  But they are not ready or the right things aren’t happening for it to occur (ie relationship, finances, health, fertility).  Each time someone asks it presses on that nerve of unfulfilled hopes and dreams.
  • Are confused about whether they do or don’t want a child.  When they are questioned, it reminds them that they have that inner conflict or confusion.

Is this question irritating or uncomfortable for you?  If so, which of the three above are you?  Or it could be some other reason.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic, in the comments section.

And if its an issue that’s really bothering you and you’d like to resolve it, then book a chat with me to discuss how I can help you.

Kind regards

Lisa
